Brian Eno Urges Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a group of music creators. The single showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These donations will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was described as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a few million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is primarily raising awareness for this issue and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The track is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from later in the month.
